I’ve watched a bunch of old Giro’s and Tour’s stages over the weekend. Yesterday watched the worlds from Il Montello (Italy near where I spent all my time), very memorable indeed with the old man (38 yrs.) Joop Zoetemelk winning, 1986 worlds with Argentin, also 1976 Paris-Roubaix, 1989 Tour and worlds, old Eddy Merckx races, Armstrong’s 2nd Tour win… older races before we had live coverage. You know how it was then. Joop Zoetemelk raced the Tour de France 16 times, he won the race in 1980 and also came eighth, fifth, fourth (three times) and second (six times)!
