About

I am an visual artist, and writer, using multi-media, drawing, photography, and performance art, based on African diaspora aesthetics, with a grounding in ethnobotany and natural sciences.

I have been keeping journals since I was a teen. Part of the reasoning behind that was for self-expression. Part of it was because I had a sense of personal history, even if that personal history is not earth shattering. I began digital journals around 2000 and have since keep one or, several, for my different interests. They all come together here in onajide.com.

In working through a meaningful approach and context for my personal and professional life to be exposed to casual and critical review, I would ask you to navigate to the pertinent information provided through navigation.

I have been an exhibiting artist for over thirty years although I spent a few years in hiatus when I became tied to the sport of bicycle racing. This was an important part of my life experience when I traveled the Caribbean and Italy, therefore it is mentioned.

Since the late 1990’s my work has shifted from the gallery space to the environment and, more importantly, ’sacred spaces’ in nature. What constitutes ’sacred space’ is partly the awe one feels in the presence of a total environmental experience. Of course, similar experiences can be reproduced in the gallery space but, at times with a cost to the integrity to the work. Each case is an individual one.
