Lost Productivity

// August 30th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog

We’ve lost some productivity the past few days including, some blogging. Things seemed worse than they were. At any rate, in the studio there is a massive rush toward a pending deadline so, attention was diverted onto other high priority items. I’ll be back to posting as normal by Tuesday. Thanks for your patience.

Typical…

// August 26th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog

Typical compensation package offered on a Craigslist job:

Compensation: School credit and paid lunch. May turn into a paying job in the future.

Last week someone listing an ad called me angry and bitter when I mentioned that even slaves have to be fed, housed and clothed. I said unpaid labor means they’re asking for crappy work and without compensation that’s all they’ll end up getting.

Ruminations

// August 26th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog

Monday was the first day of the fall semester at the university. I went up there to talk to my friend and former co-professor. I know it was strange in a way to be there not teaching but, I did extend greetings and assistance to any of my former students that happened my way. I still have some raku I’d like to complete this fall.

The main thing I did today was continue working on my public art proposal. I wish there was more time but, there isn’t. I don’t feel confidant in my proposal at the moment and, I’m not sure I will once I submit it. As I redesign it and redesign it again, I’m hoping to feel settled about its direction. I thought it was looking okay this evening until I got this wild idea that I was looking at a design for a swimming pool interior. “No, not that!” Another tweak here and there. Tomorrow, I have to send off the “drawings” I have to email the concrete manufacturer to have them work up an estimate. I’m really grateful they’re doing this for me but, it means they’ll get some work if accepted. Two of my friends are featured in the catalog materials so, that give them an edge.

I have to make 12 copies of my documentation. Talk about a process, this is one.

What Happened to my Software?

// August 25th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog

I have no idea what’s happened to my CS4. It’s not working and I’ve gone back to my old computer using CS2 to work on my proposal. I even lost the multilayered image I was working on when I had to force quit when things froze up. TimeMachine isn’t working either. I wonder if they’re related. I have to wait at least another day for the install disk since it’s in the possession of somebody who’s on holiday. *sigh* I have a major project I’m trying to work on.
