Wikis, are they really that good?
I never recommend students to check Wikipedia because it is known to have inaccuracies. However, the communal nature of the very large web site is intriguing. We are all embracing the social web, for good and for bad, as we see the future of the internet and, our wireless, digital future. Having as many people as possible contribute to a document makes for a very interesting way of doing things.
Because of my recent interactions and developing relationships with web developers and programmers, I’ve had to rethink some of my previous ideas including the wiki.
I signed up for a wiki, pbwiki.com, that I plan to experiment with over the summer with my new batch of students. I’ve used a communal blog with my students but, they didn’t use it much with the exception of going there to check assignments. I don’t know yet how to develop it but, if any of you have experience or, ideas of your own please leave a comment.
