Yesterday, Tuesday, I badly broke my onajide.com blog (posts which are often duplicated here). It took Paul well over an hour to fix it. I was trying to upgrade my Wordpress blog and failed to get it done correctly. In fact, I really messed it up.
I had been asking Paul questions that were beyond my knowledge over the past couple of weeks but, as usual, he gives me enough to help but not the entire answer. That’s okay because I really need to learn more and, am more than willing to knock my head against the wall to figure things out. I do not have the kind of understanding of web applications I would like but, I’m convinced I can learn. If I’m able to teach some of what I’ve learned to others then, that’s the personal proof I need.
At the end of last night Paul finally set up my server. That means a fast forward to the next set of skills I need to catch up to: apache, mysql, linux and, whatever else comes with the territory. This is what I wanted, right? I know there are going to be days of frustration so, I’m expecting it. Hopefully, I’ll be prepared for them.
So, I moved my first database, and site files, registered nameservers then, turned off the domain on the old server. To some system admin this is nothing but, it got completed slowly. I feel like I’ve really done something.
I didn’t get to bed until 4 am and, had a meeting at 9 am with a presentation that ended up starting at 11:45 am. The first presenter too time from everyone and by my turn, the time pressure was on and people were ready to leave. Acutally, when we did finish, I saw them gather up their belongings and dash out. I didn’t get a chance to really sell my brand. It might have been enough to open a few opportunities though.
On the way home I decided to stop by Museum of Contemporary Art to see if the upcoming exhibition was available for viewing. It wasn’t. However, the museum director was just walking back to the entrance and she gave me a walk-thru. Wow, Sympathy for the Devil: Art and Rock and Roll Since 1967 was totally unbelievable! The exhibition to explores the relationship between contemporary art and rock music over the past forty years. I’ll definitely have to do a write-up on this show.
