After a full day ot travelling I made it to Minneapolis. We stopped by the Walker to pick up my press packet for the current exhibitions, I did a tour of the shows and headed off to the woods (from where I’m posting this). I’ll post more about the Walker’s exhibtions later but they were: Dian Arbus retrospective; Cameron Jamie (LA artist whose work, quite honestly, I did not like with the exception of his drawings); two group shows made from the permanent collection: Quartet: Matthew Barney, Robert Gober, Sherry Levine, Kara Walker and Elemental: Carl Andre, Donald Judd, Agnes Martin, Richard Serra, Robert Smithson, Ellsworth Kelly and, Brice Marden. On the way out of town we discussed the days events in le Tour de France where I hadn’t known that Floyd Landis had regained his lost time from Wednesday and finished the day only 30 secs. from the overall lead. You that know little of cycling, Thursday was EPIC! Anyway, there is an awesome outdoor velodrome (racing track) made from some super hard African wood not far from the city. There were events that evening so, we stopped for a few minutes and said hello to the facilities director, whom I met several years ago. I walked under the apron and took a few pics (trying my best to look professional) and nobody questioned me. I had the free pass if I was. We just watched one full event and continued the drive arriving at the cabin at almost midnight Central time. I was so tired and sleepy I napped most of the way here. More Walker later…
