Last Week…

I can’t remember what day it was that I saw this osprey but, I think it was Friday of last week. I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t been able to keep track of the days for incidental things. I wish I could have gotten on the other side of the bird so that I wasn’t shooting toward the sun. The bird was actually close to the road but, if I had walked off into the bushes I know it would have taken flight. I love those long claws. They drive onto the surface of the nearby lake and snag mullet as they jump out of the water. Skillful hunters.

we have osprey around this area. beautiful birds. :-) our local council build nest holders for them atop of the telegraph poles. :-) :-)
I’ve always loved Ospreys.
Nice one, I have never been close enough to a raptor to get a photo.
That has happened here too. They love those high perches for nesting.
No? In the past few years I seen but, not all photographed, a snail kite (a type of hawk that eats a specific snail in the Everglades), several bald eagles, many ospreys, red shouldered hawks, red tailed hawks, harrier hawk (this summer in Minnesota), several species of owls, nighthawks (insect eaters), and a few others I can’t recall. Those mentioned above are all in Florida with one exception. I’ve seen some others in me travels driving across the U.S. Unfortunately, I don’t have many pics myself as birds in flight are a super challenge. I still try though… :-)
Those talons are so amazing!
I always think it’s lucky to see one, let alone get a photo of one. Aren’t they amazing!
