I got a job offer from a store I know today. I walked in the immediately out of the mouth of the manager came those words offering me a job. Unfortunately, now that school is back in session and, classes I’m scheduled to teach for the city, and the development of miamiartexchange.com, it seems I am not able to accept it. I’ll call them tomorrow and let them know for sure.

I’m really excited about the threshold I’m standing on with miamiartexchange.com. I sent out a newsletter to start having art meetups for both Miami-Dade & Broward counties. Since I live on the county line, this is a relatively good place to do it. So far, I’ve received a few r.s.v.p.’s. That’s encouraging because of the enthusiasm of the responses. I’m hoping to also generate a bit more than some networking out of this too.

I was asked to sit on a panel for Miami-Dade library when they do one on alternative media and the arts. I think that will be kewl. I wasn’t asked on the last panel because I had stepped back from doing more writing in Miami New Times. The editor wanted to create a tone for my article that I wasn’t necessarily happy with. Since then, only one of the people on that panel still works for a print newspaper. All the others now (excluding one print journalist, professor, and friend) write online. One other of the former panelists, formally trained as a journalist, started up a print magazine with a group of his friends. It seems to be doing well enough so far.

My client web redesign is moving fine. I met with the site owner on Thursday to clarify what I think we should do with the site. She wants to eventually maintain it as she had been only this time, I’m organizing the files so everything isn’t just out in the open with web pages, images, and everything just sitting on the top level and, VERY difficult to find. On the server she had a folder of duplicated files, inside of which was another duplicate set, both sets with missing files. Gawd, what a mess! It looks better already after my speedy recovery of it. I need to fix that big splash image she’s using… it’s TOO big.
