These are two of the recent experiments with mushrooms. The black paper version shows a shot that cuts off about 40% of the image (from the surrounding area). I know some of my students think I’m crazy dashing across campus to gather up mushrooms that have sprouted up. Let ‘em smile and, inwardly laugh if they so choose. I know what I’m getting at with my experiments and explorations.

Oh they are amazing. Really interesting experiments you are doing. In some ways they remind me of that that Kirilian {sp?} photography tht photographs the lifeforce of plants {or whtever it is that is emitted.

Very beautiful mushrooms — and pooh on anyone laughing at you gathering them! They look like invitations into alternate universes or something. :)

Thy’re so beautiful. Irisies of great big eyes.

Is there a way to fix them? I imagine the spores fly away pretty easily.

I sprayed them lightly with matte fixer Friday… I’ll check them out Monday and see how they look. I took these pics after I sprayed them so, I think they should be fine. These were meant to be individual pieces but, I’m working on a way to make prints. What I’m planning should work but, I’m just hoping I can control the contrast enough to allow some sublety and tonal variation.

Mercy, my mind is working slow today! My last comment about controlling contrast is because I’m talking about going into the darkroom with the mushrooms!
