I have been very, very busy lately. Miami Art Exchange has finally relaunched. It has kept me VERY busy learning how to use the Mambo CMS, that was provided for me, and then converting many, many pages. Actually, most of 2004 has not be converted yet due to the many images involved. Let me explain what has happened…
I’ve been going to computer user groups for years trying to learn stuff. In the most recent group I’ve been going to I asked the organizer about CMS and if it would be useful for Miamiartexchange.com because the site was on the verge of getting too big for easy management. Well, he said yes and then redesigned my site so that it would work in Mambo. Sounds easy but, it took me a good while to figure out what I was dealing with and how to make it work. Actually, that was easily 8-9 weeks ago. Yes, that’s how long I’ve been converting pages and, I’m not finished.
Anyway, is it too good to think that somebody would act like they believe in what you’re doing and assist so readily? He’s offered ideas about how to make the site financially viable. That’s even better. I already know a few people that make enough money from their websites to live from. They have no outside work and live okay… better than broke-ass me. Anyway, the end result is that after working on the conversion process and making some sense of it, comes the realization that the site has totally changed and my life with it, even if only in a small but, significant way.
I hope that you all who read my LJ will enjoy my new beginning and ride along in comfort… if such can be done from the armchair. :-) I still won’t be as active here for a while until I get more conversion done. Soon as I do, I’ll have more pics!
Check out the site and see the changes… Thanks!
p.s. I forgot, I WILL have some new pics real soon. I’m headed to Minnesota’s backwaters soon… 1st week of August. Will Tim be in town? I’m planning to visit the Walker then head north. I hope I can at least talk to him. :-)
